Spider-Man Remastered Our Technical Review

Finally, it is here, Spiderman Remastered for the PS5

New Peter Parker

New Peter Parker is the biggest change in Spiderman Remastered.

Already many controversies have been received on this and, instead of just bringing the visual improvements, Marvel’s new Spiderman is changing the gaming experience to an all-new level. More specifically, Peter Parker has a completely new face in the PS5 remastered. In the original ps4 release, Peter Parker’s face was modeled on John Bubniak but now in the PS 5 remaster, Ben Jordan is now the new face model, who resembles Tom Holland. As per the insomniac, the reason for this change is that Jordan’s face is the better match for the facial capture of Yuri Lowenthal, who voices and provides motion capture for perter Parker/Spiderman.

According to the developers, the remastered PS5 features improved models and materials including, the improved character models which, include higher fidelity skin, eye, and teeth shaders, and even individually rendered strands of hair.

Big News from the Insomniac

Insomniac has been working on the remaster for a year and finally, they have come up with brilliant news, as from now-onwards players would now be able to transfer their progress to PlayStation 5 upcoming Remastered edition as part of a future update.

Earlier, things were different as it seems Insomniac was focused on leveraging ps5 hardware as PS5 and PS4 were incompatible and, those who own the original game were not able to upgrade to the remaster. The remastered was meant for doing the things that one can do only on the PS5.

The Spider-Man Remastered comes with some impressive changes and, things have become much clearer when we have compared PS5 with the PS4 version.

Let us look in detail at how the PS5 remaster differs from the original PS4 in other aspects, along with the change in Peter Parker.

Visual Improvements

The most obvious improvement marvel Spiderman remastered makes over the original PS4 release is Ray Tracing. For those who do not know, Ray Tracing is an approach used to make light in videogames flow and produce a real-life effect and bring incredibly realistic lightening results. Precisely, the insomniac has incorporated ray-traced reflections and ambient shadows into the game.

Secondly, Marvel’s Spiderman Remaster offers the option to play it in one of the two modes: performance mode and ray-tracing model. The game will run in dynamic 4K in both modes. The ray-tracing mode will run at 30 fps with the ray-tracing enabled, while the performance mode will run at 60fps and will not have ray tracing.

Other visual improvements have also been made, such as a significant increase in the pedestrian and traffic density in New York, while draw distances have also seen some great improvements. It is because of this that few of the shadows and textures in the distance are visible in ps4 while not in the ps5.

Hardware and Mechanics

Ps5 remastered has more powerful hardware when compared with PS4. Remastered PS5 makes use of AMD’s CPU and GPU architecture and, the tremendous speed increase that it comes with eliminates the loading times. When compared with the hard drive of PS4, which takes around eight seconds to load the game, in PS5 it is completed in even less than a second. So, with this, you can imagine how fast SSD of PS5 remastered is, compared to ps4.

Audio, Gameplay, and Environment

The remaster features spatial 3D audio and also makes use of the dual senses haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for a much better experience.

Another big change is the change in gameplay. Marvel Spiderman remaster includes the base game along with the Heist, Turf Wars, and the Silver Lining, its three DLC episodes. On top of that, it will also be bringing new content, including the new suites. To be precise, there will be three new suites in the game. One of these will be an amazing suit from the amazing spider man films, which means suits from all three eras of Spiderman films are in the remastered version.

Along with this, Marvel’s excellent photo mode will also have additional features in the remaster where players will now be able to change Spiderman’s suit during photo mode after you have lined up your shot. You can also place lighting in the environment to change the lighting of your photo.

Our Verdict

The Spiderman Remastered is quite impressive when compared to the original PS4. It has to be reckoned with effortless gameplay, rock-solid performance to the remarkably detailed environment. With big enhancements and visual improvements, the remastered PS 5 is worth playing.

Our Rating for the game is 9/10
